As a result of visiting a church, we were invited to go to a weekend Valentine Getaway. It was there that we heard about the anointing of the Holy Spirit. During the worship service you could feel the power of the Holy Spirit in the room.
I never raised my hands for worship, but whatever was holding me back was gone. I raised my hands to worship the Lord, and my husband thought, "they got her." When I look back, I have to laugh at how silly we were.
Our marriage has always been on shaky ground and we could never figure out why. We are like two rams constantly butting heads over everything! Name calling was big in both of our families so it carried over into our marriage.
We found out that weekend that we loved each other, but we were two wounded people trying to live with each other. Hurting people hurt people.
I tell people it is like two porcupines living together. We were constantly hurting each other.
I did not realize it then, but we both had tons of garbage from our past that was never dealt with.
When two people get married, they unknowingly drag their baggage from the past with them.
We left that weekend with our vows renewed and we were finally going to be happy!
(Well at least it sounded good.)
