Are you in a religious rut?
After attending a "free" church for only a few weeks, we realized that we had been caught in a religious rut most of our life. I wrote the Pastor of our church and told him we would like to have our names removed off the church membership.
I told him that we finally left God out of the box, and our lives were changing. I told him that our marriage, family and finances were being healed. I don't know if he ever read the letter to anyone or not, but it felt so good to write it. Even though we attended the church for at least 10 years, we never got a phone call asking why we were missing church. We never got a phone call or letter after the letter was sent to the church.
I really believe that you can get in such a rut of going to church, stand up to sing, sit down, stand back up, sit down to collect the offering, stand back up to sing again, sit down to hear the preacher, stand up and sing, and rush out of the church because your roast is is in the oven, and he went over 10 minutes. We were even in such a rut, that if we didn't sit on the left side by the window on the third seat in church, we felt uncomfortable. That's bad when you even have a pew rut!
No wonder our kids hated going to church and stopped going with us when they turned 13 and just saw our church go through another church split.
It is so wonderful to go to a church that worships the Lord, with worship music and dance, that is led by the Holy Spirit. I love going to a church that doesn't stop the worship so the pastor can get his sermon preached on time.
What if the Holy Spirit is about to heal someone during worship and they stop the worship service to preach? Someone could miss their healing or breakthrough because of man's clock-watching. There will be no clocks in Heaven.
Think about this next time you go to church.
Are you in a religious rut?
